Window A/C's filled me with hate and I avoided putting them in until the very last uncomfortable minute. I went central HVAC a few years ago and haven't looked back.
UGH, I am seeing some horrific pics of that sand fire, it seems like everything that's not on fire is covered with smoke and ash. Be safe, pleeze. The air quality must be awful.
