Given that even Trump’s own campaign operatives are leaking reports that question their candidate’s own mental stability right now, it’s not surprising that Trump’s donors are seething with rage.
OK, I am a little worried that this might be too good to be true and that Trump might come up with a trumped-up (heh heh) excuse to drop out in time for the Reeps to recover and field a plausible candidate. Here's hoping his very large ego prevents him from doing so!
I've seen a few articles today suggesting that tRump is indeed considering dropping out (like a common Palin, ferchrisake), so your replacement candidate scenario is not that far fetched.
