  1. I'm guessing those cucumbers were grown in a greenhouse. These kinds of flatworms are present in greenhouse scenarios a lot. They like places that are warm and wet.

    There's a cucumber joke in there but I'm breaking with tradition this one time and just shutting up.

    And I would never have guessed that dill has a pest enemy. I tend to stick with basil and parsley for my summer herb garden.

  4. BTW, a friend turned me on to a local place that makes awesome dill pickles. I'm ruined for anything else out here. Back east, maybe, but damn these things are tasty.

  5. Here's some local color for you: in this region they don't raise escargot, but instead have cagouille. Far as I can tell, they are the same thing, but it's just another little quirk of the regional dialect. I'm not a huge fan, either way, but my husband likes them.
