  1. Stargazing in the CET update: It was a fairly clear night here. In about 30 minutes of watching, I was able to observe 3 very bright and speedy meteors. And I also saw a few bats catching those annoying 'skeeters. It was a good night, woukd have liked to linger, but must skip off to bed to rest for an earlyish appointment. I hope you guys have luck where you are!

    1. It's 1929 hrs EDT here, about a half hour until sunset. Nice and (mostly) clear, with none of those nasty pop-up T-storms they've been promising us. Peak for tonight is supposed to be midnight or thereabouts. We'll see whether I can last that long.

  2. I think the peak for the Perseids was last night. Watching a meteor shower through a telescope is like going to a ballgame and watching it through a swizzle stick. Lounge chair or blanket on the ground, naked eye works best. Of course, there are meteors every night of the year, If you're looking up for half an hour or so you'll see them. I've seen ones change color, break apart, cast shadows (the last one is called a bolide). Had an awesome night up at Rattlesnake Lake near you, weej, long ago. Telescopes and meteors. Fun for all.
