    *Bitter, prolonged sobbing*

  2. Ugh, looks like it will heat up here as well, though we won't get any storms thanks to the drought. Stay cool, everyone!

    1. How's the firey sitch out there? I see the Sand fire is pretty much contained (or was) but there's nwe ones springing up and that Big Sur fire looks nasty. Stay safely un-conflagrated, now!

      1. Not sure at the moment–I have to be careful accessing the news as the assholes in the media insist on posting Olympic spoilers–but this heat wave won't help, I'm sure :-(

        1. This | CalFire | place I found is good and has no Olympic Spoilers that I've found yet.
It looks like the Sand Fire is, if not totally out, then no longer an Incident. The Pilot Fire is the only active one that's close to LA now.
NBC's broadcast Olympic coverage has to be the worst in recorded history. It's like watching the second half of the Today show for hours, with all those soft-focus human interest stories with the slow, sad piano notes in the background. I've had to stop.

    1. Drought conditions over there, too, huh? Ugh. I hear roasted Prickly Pear cactus is great, if you burn off all the spines.

What with all the rain, heat, sun and rain, heat, sun here I've got Lovecraft's Garden growing out back. I swear it's going to uproot and come get me on the next full moon.

    2. I would like to order one Thursday forecast, plz.
I'll pass on the others. (Central Virginia is staring at a heat index of 105 potentially this weekend).
Dewpoints –>70s? 80s? I was scared to read that far.

    1. At 1345 EDT:

      Heat Index 107.0 F Daily high of 109.0 F at 1221 hrs

So when the Capital Weather Gang say the forecast for tomorrow is "Unbearable", they mean "worse than this".
      I miss the snow.
