      1. We are all still gonna laugh and point, though. He'll never leave the confines of his gaudy NYC penthouse apartment again. If we are lucky.

  1. Well, we can promote voting by absentee ballots in black neighborhoods, [right]?

WARNING – IF YOU ARE ABLE TO VOTE IN PERSON ON ELECTION DAY, YOU MUST GO TO YOUR
POLLING PLACE, VOID YOUR ABSENTEE BALLOT AND VOTE THERE.

OK, time to get the legal team on this crap FFS…

  2. I've only crossed the line once in a presidential election, and that was in 1972. I've never voted for a Republican Senator, Representative, Governor, etc. I have voted for some Republicans for positions that by all rights should be non-partisan, such as tax collector and assessor, but mostly because there were no Democrats on the ticket. Rural NV sucks that way.

  3. I was first old enough to vote in 1972, and was already in Vietnam. It was my bitter pleasure* to vote for George McGovern and a straight Communist Party ticket in my home state.

  4. That was my first election, too. They changed the age of majority between the '70 and '72 elections, or I would've been eligible for the 1970 mid-terms.

I think snark has been murdered in it's crib over on the front page. I got pecked to death by what felt like ducks a week ago, and I haven't been back since.

  5. I stopped going there some months ago, and asked Trix to stop my annuity to her. The current crop of writers doesn't speak to me the way, say, Newell and Layne did.

Also every post gets 500 comments. Wow! Glad they're doing well anyway.

  6. For me, it's the commenters, not the writers. Fare la Volpe, Dok and Robyn have been on it, Rebecca comes in and knocks one out of the park now and then, too.

  7. I've been doing the monthly payment because of what she offers us here as well.

Next time she's around for a drinky thing I wouldn't mind asking her if there were some more thinky type pieces. Overall I think they do a good job, but a combination of slightly less serious articles and overwhelming comments (again, good for them) makes it hard for me to want to participate.

Wonkette was better before it was cool? 😉

  8. Some of the new commenters are great, but it is getting so busy up front I don't have the time to devote to really enjoying a thread anymore. I do catch up there a couple of times a week.
