“At 98 degrees and 100 percent humidity, you can walk slowly outdoors, but if you try to run, you can actually die. It’s a matter of just the basic physics of it…”
Stupid pussies at that. Hottest dewpoint ever recorded on earth is 94F (in Ethiopia, IIRC). I've lived in Tampa, where the dewpoint gets up to 85F some times, if you really want to feel a sauna. In the morning when it's 75 F and 100% humidity, guess what folks, the dewpoint doesn't climb that much afterwards.
Science- but hey, this is the public we're talking about…
Dew point is a foreign concept to me, living as I do with relative humidity usually in the single digits. I think the most extreme humidity I ever experienced was in Mazatlán, where the air temp, water temp and humidity were all in the 90's. No respite, so I spent my time (when not surfing) at the cabana, getting hammered.
Dew point is the temp at which you start getting condensation on your beer mug, so that's why cozies are the norm for brewskis in FLA- otherwise you find them in a warm puddle in 5 minutes.
You're right, though- when I was in FLA, Labor Day weekend, the Gulf water temp was 90F, the dewpoint was 85F (because salt water), the air was 90F, and the beer was flowing.
The fog just cleared at my place, we might crack (*shudder*) 70F
This year we've been getting back to a normal pattern. Lots of fog in the evening, dripping off of everything and doing a good faux rain job here in the hills.
"I'm old enough to remember when ice hockey could be played outdoors"
Enjoy it while it lasts…. http://m.dailykos.com/stories/1561060

Pussies.
Thermodynamic equilibrium is a helluva drug.
Empathy: capacity to care at a constant pressure.

That 30° RH is unacceptable to me. Anything above 10° is unacceptable to me.
“Cold! If the thermometer had been an inch longer we'd all have frozen to death.”
I tell people from "back east" that August and October are flipped out here.
Heh.
Temp 83.7 F
Humidity 73%
Heat Index 91.0 F
And this is a good day.
It's from an hour ago, but:
Temp 82°F
Humidity 8%
Wind Speed calm
Barometer 30.06 in
Dewpoint 16°F (-9°C)
Visibility 10.00 mi
Heat Index80°F (27°C)
On our way to 99° later, possibility of cloud build-up, but no precipitation likely. And that's what we really need.
According to my station, the yearly max values (August 2015 – August 2016 are:
Temp 95.5 F
Humidity 99%
Heat Index 120 F
I'd be happy to send you out some wet weather systems. It's like a rain forest out here.
You've done well my son! Please note, at your place, that's a frost point!

what was your highest dewpoint?
I wish there was some way to even this shit out. Everyone's got something someone else needs.
83 °F, from the August 18, 2015 – August 18 2016 summary. Crikey.
Uh, yeah…Floridariffic!
