  1. I had planned to go to a friend's [house concert] in the Bay Area tomorrow, where it will be about 15° cooler than here, but I neglected to check my calendar, which reminded me of a scheduled skin biopsy this morning.

    1. There's always |Russ & Julie| in SoCAL, which might be closer. Had to miss my finger-picking hero |Pat Donohue| when he appeared there a while back.

Good luck with the biopsy results. And speaking of medical events, let me take another opportunity to sing the praises of the VA. Emailed my doc last week to ask about a cholesterol check. He emailed me back the next day and said to go in and get the blood drawn for the tests he'd ordered. Did that yesterday morning (five minutes max), emailed him to let him know, and by 1:00 PM had an email back saying results were good.

      1. This concert is an annual event. My friend is a high end builder, and this is his client appreciation party. I go for the music, most others go to network. I don't fit in, but that usually doesn't stop me.

Glad to hear your VA experience is satisfactory. We usually only hear about the horror stories, good to know it ain't all bad.

        1. The horror stories were mostly about access to, not quality of, care. Some medical bureaucrats cheated to make their performance look better than it ought. Terrible thing to do, but had the gummint would funded enough caregivers there wouldn't have been a backlog to hide.

          1. Right you are.

I wish we could do something to reduce the number of new veterans, but failing that, we need to take care of y'all when you come home.

  2. This one is adjacent to a large squamous cell carcinoma I had removed 3 months ago, which was adjacent to a large one I had removed 6 months ago, and so on. I wouldn't mind so much if they were in the bald spot, but alas, I'm losing more hair all the time, and it's the craziest cowlick you ever saw! Congrats to Mrs. weejee, also.

  3. yeah man, stay healthy. If you're ever in the bay area, look me up, and I can pull out a large scope with which you can look up even better!

  4. Well, I got the one that I expected, and two more for fun. One on my forehead that I don't think will amount to anything, and a kinda scary one on my back and left shoulder that I've never seen before, a freckle gone wild. I ran into some old friends in the waiting room, though, so it was a good morning anyway.

I need to get a telescope. I mean, why not? Almost a 7.0 dark sky here…

  5. There's a big vacant field behind my house where you can almost hide from the one visible street light a quarter mile away, it's pretty dark.
