  1. That's one of the best pieces I've read on Trump and the conclusion that someone even more tyrannical will come along is something I've been worrying about.

  2. Every time somebody oohs and ahhs about Princess This-or-That and some royal baby, I wonder: Do you really think there's a class of people who deserve to be in charge of everyone else, and to live off their labor, and to send their children to war?

And now I think: If you do believe that, do you believe that orange-and-yellow asshole in a blue suit is a member of such a class?

  3. He must be beaten like the proverbial orange step-child. Beaten so badly that the likes of him won't raise their head again in a generation.
Now, if I may, I'm off to see [Cafe Musique.] And you are not, which is a shame. I know Weejee will be in the company of our wonket overlords, so he is in good hands.
    [Better Cafe Musique.]

  4. Yes, this is also a fear of mine. CP is on point. If Drumpf wasn't so frightfully sloppy and incompetent, this would be a very different race. As it is, it's uncomfortably too close. Somebody a bit more polished and savvy could run successfully and exploit the fascist streak that some Americans seem to gravitate towards. It's frightening.

  5. The racism is offensive and the economic insecurity is a dodge. Americans are bored with their democracy and they don't have the democratic energy to do anything about it, so they'll settle for an entertaining quasi-strongman. When they decline, democracies get the dictators they deserve. A country mired in apathy and lassitude gets a dictator who can't even put in the hard work of becoming very good at it.

I am officially very depressed. Fuck.
