Speaking of arbitrary frames of reference, a while back I was wandering through the weeds of astrology sites and found one speculating on the "great year" of axial precession and the wandering of the northward equinox. We're in the "Age of Pisces" because the equator crosses the ecliptic in that constellation (and you know damned well which "Age" we're approaching!). The Roman Empire was founded in the Age of Aeries, the Babylonians were doing their thing in the Age of Taurus, etc.

    The author was speculating what point of origin the ancient aliens would set as the starting point, and decided on Gemini, where the ecliptic crosses the Milky Way.

    Seems as reasonable a starting point as any other.
