  1. With one final spew, he emitted nine animals and an assortment of humans.

I always thought the Bumbogenesis theory has merit, especially as machines like Larry began to appear.

        1. Oh my, if you haven't seen it you must. It is charming and hilarious. There's a version on YouTube but it is missing the very beginning set-up and the entire third act.

The link above is a play-within-the-movie. Goldblum plays an actor and he gets the lead in a musical version of The Elephant Man.

  2. Speaking of creation myths, if anyone here has not ever watched |Sita Sings the Blues| then stop what you are doing and watch the damn thing right now. It is one of the most amazing movies ever.

And |here| is Roger Ebert's review of it, which should convince you to watch it. Also too click the links for the trailers.

    1. I'm at 17:36 now, where the King (who plays the Veena with his intestines) is being convinced by his evil fanged sister to kidnap Rama's wife Sita. This will, of course, not end well.

I love this. All the stars for the Shadow Puppets. And the Blues.

    2. Yeah, I looked at the comments…………..The movie is fun, the animation is good. But it fails miserably in actually representing the Ramayana. This is just a story based on Paley's own hurt feelings about her husband leaving her, which she transplants on top of an ancient epic, substituting her own feelings and distorting the text to tell her own story. Any resemblance to the real Ramayana is very accidental.
Odd that someone apparently understands the movie, but can't get over it not being what they want it to be.

      1. I wish Roger Ebert's original full review was still up (the review that's on his site is a shortened version). His original goes into a lot of the controversy as well as Paley's own story, and he weaves this wonderful review in with how Paley's pain led her to this book and the rest, as they say, is history.

      1. amazing, amazing game. Kershaw, I thought, was overthrowing a bit early and the Cubs were going up there looking for hard stuff. By the time he switched gears, it was too late. Hendricks was amazing.
