    1. She's got to find a way to recover the $245,000 she gave to the Republican campaign. I wonder if Amway distributors get school vouchers in bulk and then sell them on.

  1. Heh. Atrios just now ; Random Question
……….who is the one person in education policy circles who is worse than Rhee?

  2. DeVos, 58, is seen as a national leader in the school choice movement, which she has called an attempt to “empower” parents to find good schools for their children, whether they be traditional public schools in other neighborhoods, charter schools, virtual schools or private institutions.

    1. I'm pretty sure those are an online curriculum for homeschooling. I know a woman who is using that in Nevada, and all she does is butt heads with the administration. I used to work with her husband. Nice people, but still convinced Obama is coming for their (oh so many) gunz, and public education is from the debbil. Never mind that [Connections Academy] is gummint funded.

    2. This is like when Udacity tried that thing with San Jose State- the students who needed the most help did the worst at a distance. Quell surprise.

  3. If I had a choice, I'd have lived in NJ or Mass when Kid Glass was growing up, best public schools in the country. I had to move out of NJ to find out how hard the rest of this country sucks with public schools.

  4. Well, public education had a good run: from the end of the Civil War until school integration in the 70's. Might as well privatize it along with Medicare, the VA and DoD.

Oh right, Bush already did DoD.
