‘Voters generally know who the president is but not much else. They don’t know which party controls Congress, what Congress has done recently, whether the economy is getting better or worse.’
Ive seen this before, but this fact never fails to shock me. Jesus fucking Christ…
I dunno, don't the repubs give lip service to these people anyway? It must suck growing up in a dying community, urban or rural, and I bet that accelerates the flight from either area. A lot of folks just want a job they can count on for their whole career, and while that's been the exception, probably even more so today. OTOH, I think most folks slow down with learning new tricks as they age, and that doesn't help any job dislocation.
shorter version: ugh, but keep fighting to make things better.

Another, less inflamatory term for "intellectual racism" might be "snobbery."
elitism?
