We never seem to be able to get rid of these awful people. They keep coming back, like Michael Myers in those ghastly teen frightener movies. I'd blame this on a Supreme Being who let Evil bloom by accident while He was busy with an ad hoc cloning project with a rib in His Garden, if I believed in one, but we all know that's nonsense.
I think the more realistic explanation is that we've strayed into a quantum worldline where evil is just a large component of this universe's structural physics.
As Rep. Walter B. Jones (R-N.C.) said so appropriately today………….., “People are just losing confidence in the lack of ethics and honesty in Washington.”

I think I've shared this story before, but during W's administration I said something like "You know, compared to today's Republicans, Nixon doesn't seem so bad" to my baby boomer mom. She nearly had an aneurysm. Now I know why…
Oddly enough, Rachel was talking about this the other night and said Nixon never attended the briefings while he was the nominee because he so deeply distrusted the CIA. So they sent him written summaries, and after he became president he had his underlings return all the unread briefings, which presumably had been duly safeguarded as Top Secret/NOFORN exc US UK etc.
As someone whom Nixon sent to Vietnam, I have to acknowledge that he was a hard-working, self-made man, and was apparently faithful to his wife. I hated him with a white-hot passion, but have to cede these positive things. And you are right: he had a better character than Trump could ever imagine exhibiting.
| He was a Crook. | And a traitor. And it's just too damned bad he's not here to kick around anymore.
Kissinger still is, though, that blood-spattered bastard.
Roger Ailes is also, too still behind the curtain.

Trump's having a public fight over Russian hacking and meeting times with a senior US intelligence official right now. *grabs popcorn*
