The most known[citation needed] aspect of the American Academy of Hospitality Sciences is the International Star Diamond Award which applies to a wide range of businesses. The award recognizes hospitality, gastronomy, attitude, quality, cleanliness and service.

• For hotels and resorts, properties can pay for a set of gold-plated plaques including the logo and engraved signatures of the three board members;
