Hookers and BJs? Better be a good meal with that too.
$1K is for both of you? Not too bad, I guess. I don't think I've ever spent more than about $150 for a round-trip anywhere. I haven't flown anywhere since the 80's, I think.
Also: I-15 avoids LA, but driving 395 from Victorville to Washington takes a minute…
Right, plus maybe 10 hours flying total both ways with airport connection, etc, vs two days to drive up and two days to drive back if you don't want to travel Neal-Cassady style.I hate flying, but in this case it makes sense.

Four-digit flight numbers? I'm thinking the AA tickets come with a sense of adventure!
But even the $1k price would make me seriously consider driving it, especially if you can't fit all your luggage into 100 mL bottles and 1 L bags.
2 PN x 2000 miles round-trip = 4,000 PN-miles
$1000 for two "first-class" seats/4,000 miles = $0.25/mile
…is what I was thinking. Plus not having to drive through LA County, which is always nasty in unpredictable ways.

Nice to know some folks here travel first class, not back in the cattle car with us great unwashed.
The IRS rate for TCO of a car in 2016 was 57.5¢/mi, so if it's you and a passenger it's pretty close to a wash depending on incidentals.
