    1. Ironically, I had planned to go to the inaug and stay with a friend, but I canceled due to the election outcome.

Do you mean a motorbike or bicycle? When I lived in DC I went everywhere on the metro or on my bike. It's a very bikeable place.

      1. Indeed, the DC area is very bikeable. Although I had a sport motorcycle when I was younger, I never liked Harleys. And now I notice they are mostly tRump supporting fat guys.

BTW: I need a sign of Wonkville quality wit and humor.

          1. When I was in grad school and first dating the missus, one day she surprised me by coming to visit, and she knew I was home because she could see my bicycle tracks in the snow leading up to my apartment.

            What was your point again?

        1. I'm struggling a bit with a venue-appropriate sign. Organizers want the message to be about unity, human rights, dignity and justice. In other words, not specifically an anti-Trump message.

Maybe I'll just go with something basic, like "We are stronger together" or "The majority is watching, and we will hold you accountable." My snark seems to fail me without a target.

          1. IKR, I saw something a few weeks ago that was a nice mix of all the above, and then lost it in the cacophony of life.
Let me know if you think of anything.

        2. Maybe a picture of a milk carton with something clever missing, say, dignity? Or maybe intelligence? Or a functional president?

        3. Maybe something to do with, "hold my beer?" as in, "No, GOP, we won't hold your beer."

That sounded cleverer in my head…

        4. Now I've got this in my head so here is what I've come up with. These aren't great, and they're reactive rather than proactive but maybe someone else will use them as a launching point:

          Yuuuuuge protest

          Trump! Sad!

          WWOD
          (What Would Obama Do)

          Trump: Minister of Silly Walks

          Stop PedoPres

          Trump Likes Nickelback

I'm just here for the sanity

          also, for ideas:

    1. I have a feeling his inauguration day will be the apex of his popularity and of his success at governing. I imagine the next few years will be full of even bigger marches with a broader and broader participant base.

      1. I hope that's true. We have to keep the pressure on. I hope interest and our righteous fury doesn't peeter out in a few weeks/months. Although, sadly, I expect the dopes in office will be doing plenty to stoke our rage regularly.

I'm headed to the Women's March in Paris. There are only 140ish of us that have RSVPed, but I expect more will attend. There are marches all over Europe and the rest of the world, as well as the US. It's a big fuckin' deal. As per their site, 616 organized events, with over 1.3 million registered participants.

        1. I keep seeing scary stuff online the past two days about how they want to gut the federal government. I have a feeling that will draw more people to protests.

    1. Well, Tucson……………….

Saturday: Showers, mainly before 11am. High near 55. Breezy, with a west wind 20 to 24 mph, with gusts as high as 33 mph. Chance of precipitation is 80%.

      Breezy.
      Showers then Chance Showers

      High: 55 °F

    2. Chance of showers…

ETA: If it does rain, if the turnout is as low as anticipated, he will blame it on the weather. Conversely, if it rains on Saturday at the protest march, the main stream media will not remark that the crowd size was still record-breaking despite the weather.
