I remember one occasion when I lived in St Louis, I was out shoveling snow at 9:00 PM and saw lighting flash across the sky, and heard thunder. "Yes," I said to myself, "sometimes you do have to shovel out from two feet of snow. But in the summer it often gets to 95° with 95% humidity, and then the power goes out."
Since Karen hasn't gotten back to you on this, I'd lay large amounts of money that St L has never seen 95% RH @ 95F. That'd be a dewpoint of about 92F or higher. The world record for measured dewpoint was 94F, measured in Ethiopia. Even Florida doesn't see their dewpoint get above the mid 80s, F.
What you probably heard in the morning was the RH was 95%, but as the day warmed up the dewpoint doesn't change much and the temperature goes up, so yeah, you'd have 75F with a 73F dewpoint, and at 2PM you'd have 95F temp with a 75F dewpoint.
I wasn't on. This is correct but I'm 99% sure Lot was being figurative and not literal on that.
That link is really cool, thanks for that!
Not that dewpoint.
All I know is you had to wring out the air before you could breathe it.
It's a moisturizer! The missus has naturally curly hair. When we lived back east, the summer humidity pumped up the volume on her hair to make Angela Davis jealous.
We had thunder and lightning here at 4 AM yesterday, also drove through my first hailstorm in a while yesterday afternoon. Clearly, we have angered god, and she is pissed.
From the first day I discovered Mammoth in 1968, I knew I'd found home. I went there every chance I got, until I managed to move there full-time in 1972. I couldn't take the snow anymore, and moved down into the Valley in 1994. Mammoth has changed for the worse, Bishop for the better. I'm in Big Pine, the best place I've ever lived. Going to an event such as this one today was a good reminder that we're not so alone out here. Still outnumbered, but it's getting better.
Latest update- TPD is saying we got 15,000 here in Tucson today, despite the rain and cold and wind. I ran the finish line stage. I could have used 3 times the P.A. that I had…
But the march’s origins were in the outrage and despair of many women after an election that placed gender in the spotlight as never before.
Mrs. Clinton assertively claimed the mantle of history, offering herself as the champion of women and families, and calling out her opponent for boasting of forcing himself on women in a recording that prompted a national conversation about sexual assault. In a sly allusion to the crude remarks Mr. Trump made on the tape, many marchers, women and men alike, wore pink “pussy hats” sporting cat ears.
Haha, Twitter:
"You know something's up when there's even a #WomensMarch in Lubbock TX, the 2nd most conservative city in the US. During a dust storm."
The city's flagship newspaper helpfully published this dismissive opinion piece, but no actual reporting on the actual event:

Wow, that "article," just… wow.
Somebody's in the bag for Trump!

Enthusiasm and good will hallmark of crowd on Mall
Sat, Jan 21, at 12:02 am
The crowd may have been smaller than Obama's, but the mood was upbeat
As opposed to those unruly liberal brick-throwers and arsonists, no doubt.
Hallmark: when you care enough to elect the very best.
Okay, throwing a brick through a Starbuck's window is just stupid.
But the editorial offices of that newspaper…have to think about it.

I'll be doing San Diego's Women's March today. It might be a bit cool and windy, but sometimes you have to give a little extra for your country.
Presently 34 F, and we started the day with Thundersnow.

Thundersnow sounds different. It's neat.

Nice! I still have pics from the only DC protest I attended– Desert Storm. I was 19 and went alone, but felt I needed to.

My pathetic ass is staying in.
I have shit to deal with at home, but the missus and another wkt friend are in downtown Oakland.
I'm going to the one in [Bishop CA.]
Glad to hear there is on in Bishop. Go Bishop. I would have assumed it was a very red town.
Bishop is changing. I've been around here for over 40 years. It was cowboys and Indians and hippies back in those days, but the mines have shut down and agriculture isn't what it used to be. The money comes from tourism now, which forces people to either STFU or actually soften their views. There were 580 of us, by actual count:

Honestly what is wrong with people. I wonder how he'd feel if we really did turn into Nazi Germany.
I'm glad to hear Bishop has evolved. I have fond memories, we went up there every summer, and from there on up into the Sierras.

Got 3,000 in Dayton today. I've never seen a protest in Dayton that big for anything.
Not even the Delphi plant closure?
Edit: sorry, that humor could have been meant as a low blow. Apologies if so. You are one of many folks in Dayton that I love and am happy to know.
I didn't take it as a low blow at all. We've dealt with worse, like having President Trump.
OK. Sometimes I type faster than I think, and I don't want that to offend anyone in our group.
