[Rep] Greene told WRBL-TV of Columbus he was in a parking lot behind Foxes Cinema, an adult entertainment store. Greene told the station he planned to visit a nearby liquor store where he buys lottery tickets when he was shot. A news crew from the station found fresh blood on the concrete behind the adult store, the station reported.
In an interview, Greene told the station that a man pointed a gun at his chest, demanded money and then shot him. The robber did not get the donations to the American Red Cross he had with him, he said.
A Columbus Police Department report lists the adult store's address as the location of the shooting and specifies that it occurred in a parking lot. The report says officers responded to a nearby liquor store. News outlets reported that Greene went to the liquor store after being injured.
Alternative sin-splanation: Rep Green had a pocket full of cash donations to storm relief and thought he'd stop off for a little fun on his way home. He misbehaved in the film store, and they threw him out and shot his sorry ass in the parking lot, where some of his blood splattered on the wall. He didn't even call the police; the people in the liquor store did, and told them the shooting was at the adult film store.
You gotta give him credit for coming up with a nearly-plausible story very quickly, though. How to explain going to the liquor store? To buy lottery tickets, of course! (In Georgia, lottery proceeds finance public-college scholarships.) Not sure how he'll explain what he was doing on the notorious sin-strip of Victory Drive outside Fort Benning, but he'll probably come up with something.
He loses a few points for positing a black kid in a hoodie as the perp though. That's not even trying.
"Given this is an ongoing investigation, we would kindly refer all questions on the case to the police," American Red Cross spokeswoman Mindy Mizell said in a statement to The Associated Press.
She was too polite to add "Because we're too busy trying to do something helpful for the people FFS!"
