There were great delays, about seven years of delays, tremendous cost overruns. We’ve ended all of that and we’ve got that program really, really now in good shape, so I’m very proud of that.

A defense contractor acquaintance once told me that all the services, but particularly the Air Force and Navy which are run by pilots, hated the very idea of drones. General Atomics showered enough lobbyists with enough money that Congress finally just went ahead and appropriated the damn things, at which point the services couldn't resist.
If the F-35's don't work, dropping the cost by a few million won't help.
My dyslexia read that as "cardboard units," which would certainly cut costs.
