  1. Football: injuries, penalties, and the occasional great play. Still can't put a cushion in between someone's brain and skull. Hockey could clean up its act in that regard too. At least baseball FINALLY got rid of the "mow down the catcher" allowance at home plate.

    1. I mean, the NFL has a very carefully curated product. The championship game doesn't even get played at the field of the team with the best record/home field advantage, and the location is known well in advance, so it can turn into a 2 week party. At least with baseball, hockey, basketball, you don't know where the playoffs will end until the end of each round. Adds a little more suspense. I suppose football does better because a) shorter attention spans for most folks and b) plays to our violent tendencies.

  2. Superb Owl party at Trump International Golf Club, whatever the hell that is.

I don’t care if you’re the biggest Donald Trump fan on the planet, you have to admit that this Super Bowl party is the saddest gathering of people since the Red Wedding. There’s so much awful contained in this one photo that we’ll just do a rapid fire checklist of everything the president has done wrong.

    1.Seating like a dang wedding.

    2. Football party favors that were bought at Party City.

    3. Some guests seated with their backs to the screen.

    4. Everyone is wearing suits and evening wear instead of anything but suits and evening wear.

    5. THERE’S A VELVET ROPE AROUND TRUMP’S TABLE LIKE A LINE FOR A SOLD OUT MOVIE!

    6. Uncomfortable-ass chairs that were spray painted gold to look fancy.

    7. No sign of beer. Lemon water and soda for all in attendance.

This is just horrible top to bottom.

        1. In that a team is more than its QB, I wouldn't quite make that comparison, and hey, at least New England went for Hillz, despite Mr Brady's affiliations.

I'm on a members- only Boston sports fan site and there has been more than one crack about "Trump fucks up yet another good thing"

    1. Rumor has it the Pats started their comeback when Trump left with them down by 25 points with 21 minutes left.

I still don't like Mr Brady's politics. Belichick is like the Casey Stengel of foot the ball coaches, though.

    1. I didn't watch the game, but seeing the replay of the Edelman catch was impressive.

Seems that Pats offense had the ball for 70% of the game? Perhaps the Atlanta D was getting worn down.

Pitchers and catchers, this week! Yay baseball!

  3. "No worse than the Chinese Exclusion Act" reeaaaly isn't that great of a selling point.

Referring to Alternative Fact President "Charles Arthur" also not helping.

    1. yeah, "We're no more racist/xenophobic than x years ago" doesn't have that can do spirit. "Bring xenophobia back home! Americia has lost the edge in xenophobia!". That's more like it!

  4. Cutting down on endless wars would help. Changing the rules (baseball did) would help. Are we really that turned on by people bashing into each other?
