    1. There's going to be a slightly more interesting eclipse this year on Aug 21. I'm driving 10 hours north to Oregon to rendezvous with some friends in Washington to see it. Strangely, it's going to be in the daytime, except for the middle two and a half minutes. I'll have to see why…

        1. you'd have to head to South Carolina on the east coast to catch totality. Seriously, once in your life, get in the shadow of the moon, you'll never forget it. My mom, who I was able to take to Turkey 11 years ago to see one, is insisting on seeing this one.

          Weather prospects for SC on an Aug afternoon kind of suck, though.

    1. yeah, full moon. Fucking streetlight in the sky. It's gotta get close to the umbra, if not in it, for anyone to really notice any darkening.
