  1. The few daily newspaper auto reviewers left, of whom Vartabedian is one, often don't even own cars, because they get a free one every week to test drive and emit journalism-like articles on them.

    Thus he can be expected to join the "Steel wheels bad! Rubber tires good!" chanting against any other form of transportation.

    1. Firestone, Standard Oil and GM were co-conspirators in derailing light rail in Los Angeles years ago. There's no solution, no saving LA, but inter-city rail is still a possibility.

  2. Kasich killed light rail here for political reasons. Like it literally benefited nobody and the state actually LOST money because of it.

  3. God, I hate the LA Times. If it weren't for Michael Hiltzik, Robin Acarian, and a couple other writers, I wouldn't bother with them at all,

    1. So true. Roads are entirely political, and no one even knows when the costs exceed the estimates. And they certainly don't "make money."
