  1. For those who cannot attend in person, we plan to videotape the lectures this spring and make them them freely available on the web.

I'll have to keep an eye out for that. I just have to find an academic library that I can access. But this looks like a very interesting class!

  2. ISWYDT.

And I think the GOPers'd be happy just taking us back to 1875 or so. No minimum wage, unions all but illegal, plenty of cheap child labor, and no workmans comp, health or unemployment insurance. Whatever nasty slag or rubble was left over after you made stuff in your jerb-creating steel mill could just be dumped in the river, downstream from the mine tailings. Good times!

For instance, I hear Scott Pruett's over at EPA is already working up his list of regs to get rid of in exchange for new ones. Like:

    • Clean Water Act
    • Clean Air Act
    • Endangered Species Act
    • National Environmental Policy Act

Sure, some namby-pamby, hair-splitting Obama holdovers at the Justice Department might want to insist that these are "laws" and not "regulations." But really: what's the diff? A few well-placed executive orders should clear that up.
