Gross, but not too surprising. I have worked in the jewelry industry, and a lot of it is still entrenched in old-school attitudes. At the store where I worked for a while, we all still called the sales people "Mr. X" or "Mrs. X." First names were for technicians, like me, and definitely never for the management staff.
