It's like a breath of fresh air!
No joke, when I was in Cleveland Heights in grad school, I was 150 feet above Cleveland and about level with the smoke stacks from the physical plant of the hospital across the street from my lab- coal fired. The dust on my window sill was black. In retrospect, I should have gotten an air filter or something.
In 2015, coal used to produce electricity fell to its lowest level since 1984, Federal Energy Regulatory Commission data showed. That year, coal-fired generators produced 33 percent of the nation's total generation, down from over 50 percent in 2003.
With all due respect to the communities that got dependent on coal for their livelihoods:

Luxury. When I was growing up in Cleveland, you couldn't see Cleveland from Cleveland Heights.
When there are lake effect squalls, you still can't.
Lucky.
