So today I was, I think the technical musical term is ' fucking around ' , and realized that the screened holes on a dobro-style reso produce a kind of guiro sound when you scrape them with a thumb pick. More problematic is doing the same across the larger holes in the cover plate. Also, using the slide, there's about an [ very closely spaced ] octave between the bridge and the tail-piece.
