  1. In the chopper video, the guy in the tan shirt: "Well, see, here's yer problem.." Guy in black shirt: "Whaddaya mean the pool won't be done on time? I'LL SEE YOU IN COURT!"

  2. I am reading this at 9 PM Pacific time, but I cannot concentrate on the link because the weather in PHX is currently 109 degrees. At 9 PM FFS. Yikes!

    1. and that's why Tucson peeps laugh at Phoenix peeps (one of the reasons, besides the crime and traffic and city full of wingnuts), down here it actually cools off significantly at night. In Phoenix the temp drops an instant ten degrees once you leave the city limits and escape the heat island effect.

      1. Ugh. It just hangs here, and of course they're building more and more shit to add to that effect. Every dinky downtown lot seems like it's slated for high-priced infill. I'm thinking when I finally gradgeeate next year, Cmdr and I may be able to say adios to this hellhole.

    1. between the pool and the small lawn and the swamp cooler, my water bill definitely jumps a bunch in the summer, though as soon as the temps started running regularly over 100 degrees I switched from evap to air conditioning- water bill goes down a bit, but electric bill goes up. Mostly, I just enjoy the hell out of floating and swimming and try not to think about all that water, lol

      1. I have an annual, ongoing, argument with a friend on Sanibel Island on the Gulf Coast of Florida. I don't dare mention humidity lest she embark on a tirade of me not knowing humidity. I agree. What little I do know about humidity is all negative, and I wouldn't move to Florida for that reason alone, but of course there's more reasons than that. Anyway, she moved to FL knowing full well it's a swamp. I moved to the desert knowing it wasn't a swamp. It didn't used to be, anyway. Swamp coolers are losing their ability to cool us down. I can't really afford to retrofit central air, so maybe a window unit or two.

        1. my Mastercool bit the dust a few summers ago, so I made the decision to go dual cool. The AC is a blessing during the rainy season or when temps top out at 85 billion fucking degrees…

          1. I have an Utracool, just like yours but better service for parts around here. We're going to hit near 110 the next few days, humidity over 50%. Gonna suck to be me.

  3. Yes and working on it. Houses here suck for roof insulation, though that's more of a winter issue. My next big ticket item is replacing the sliding glass door with dual pane (fortunately, it faces north). I've got a friend in the solar install biz so I'm looking into rooftop solar, assuming our corrupt corporation commission doesn't give the utility companies the ability to make it economically unfeasible
