  1. internet commenter: "Patriotic citizens provide public service by removing monument to treason from public space at no cost to taxpayers"

  2. I would prefer that these monuments were officially removed, like the ones in New Orleans and the one in St. Louis. Pulling them down like this feeds the myth that all leftists are vandals*, and allows rightists with deep pockets to arrange for their restoration.

    *Consider Seattle WTO protests.

        1. I , for one, renounce all violence and vandalism, despite what some people may have inferred from earlier comments, which were just jokes.

    1. I reckon with that video people are going to be arrested.
We'll compare to who is arrested for beating that kid in the parking garage in C-ville.

    2. Also too:

statues in North Carolina are protected by a 2015 state law.

Former Republican Gov. Pat McCrory signed the law that prevents removing, relocating, or altering monuments, memorials, plaques and other markers that are on public property without permission from the N.C. Historical Commission.

So the process of "officially removing" the statue would have been arduous at best.

        1. It's for a play. Here, lemme put these chains on you like so………
Come to think of it, didn't some elementary school do that to a kid.?
