  1. Gusted over 40 MPH today here, but clear and very dry.

Edit: Mt Diablo, 3849', 20 miles from my place recorded a gust of 80 MPH.

    1. I find it odd that Mt. Washington, at 6288 feet in elevation, has any part of it's prominence above timberline. The Bristlecone pines on White Mountain grow higher than 11,000 feet.

      1. FAKE ALTITUDES

You probably will find it odd until you consider it snows all the way down to sea level elevation in new england. Can't say the same for california. The eastern US has a pipe to that Canadian arctic air, eh? It's also, what, 44 degrees latitude, so mid Oregon latitude as well. I've been on Mt Wash 4th of july weekend when it was 29F, 80 mph winds and snowing on July 4th weekend. No, we didn't make the summit that day.

        If you're saying I'm odd, well…yeah.

        1. I've seen snow on your Oakland Hills before. Not often and not much, to be sure.

At 8K ft in the Sierra, we had to cancel or postpone our July 4 parade more than a few times due to snow. I hate snow.

          1. Yep, we'd usually see snowflakes in the air maybe once a year. In the 13 years I've lived here, we've had half an inch…once. I think the last 3 years we haven't had our yearly "flakes in the air" event. I haz a sad.

I love snow. When I lived in Cleveland, I'd love to walk through the lake effect snow when it was 0F out. So cold it squeaks. Mmm…
