Almost had the chance to go once, when I went to Yosemite with some friends. Suggested stopping off on the way back, but the Japanese friend was decidedly NOT interested so I didn't press it.
He sure did. The stark contrast of his black and white images bring it home.
There were two brothers here that were interned there as kids. One became a respected surgeon, the other a successful businessman. They never spoke of their experiences other than to be thankful it brought them to this place.
I go to visit Manzanar whenever I can. I learn something new each time, and always leave quite shaken.

I live a half hour north, so it's my closest national park or monument. And it's free!
