[Sun μsystems co-founder Vinod] Khosla contends that any conditions placed on the use of his property are unconstitutional, said Eric Buescher, the [Surfrider] foundation's attorney.
"That has scary implications for how municipalities, counties or coastal agencies manage and protect coastal access and property," Buescher said. "If you can just opt out entirely, that locality loses a lot of control for how it can manage those resources."
National Parks and Monuments aren't safe from assholery, why should this beach be? I grew up not far from there, but never went there. Had plenty of free beaches available.
The design piece out to be pure cookbook engineering, right? This much clear span, that much load, so much rebar. So the likely culprit is the contractor, who might have skimped on something. You can bet the engineers who designed it are checking their math repeatedly tonight.
I never owned a wetsuit growing up in Pacifica, and I surfed every day. Could have something to do with all the frostbite I've had over the years, but I ain't no wimp!

Which is why the Guardian is woefully unqualified to weigh in on the merits of this policy. They can’t expect to be taken seriously if they are making that kind of error with regards to serious policy proposals. 🙃
You do not own the fucking ocean, asshole.
You're welcome.
/FFS

It's a |rich tradition.|
Wait, all the beaches are public in California? Sweet.
Please, courts, keep it that way.
Update on FIU bridge, reporting even, by citizen reporter…….

I hope that's a general question and you're not actually asking me.
Funny, the name doesn't sound Vietnamese.
It's not:

Also not far from where I grew up.
Meh, water and air temp were the same yesterday morning when I went for my beach walk and got my shoes sloshed.
Unfortunately that temp was 60°.
Better or worse than Maine?
Eww, normal lower 60s even in Southern California, which is Maine level ffs. SF sounds like hell.
Cannot. I just started playing bridge two years ago.
Great game. I flunked out of college one semester by playing it all day.
Now then: what is the modulus of elasticity for ferroconcrete?
It depends.
