Years ago in Thailand my friends and I went on a USO-arranged trip to Erewan Cave in Leoi Province. The bus dropped us at the foot of the mountain and it was a fairly arduous climb for us healthy young airmen to get to Buddha at the point of entry to the cave.
There were Thai girls (and boys) at the bottom selling plastic bags filled with soda pop and a straw to drink it with. As we trekked up the hill, the barefoot girls scampered ahead of us on either side of the trail and were waiting at the rest points with now-much-more-appealing bags of the blue soda pop the Thais favored.
So I for one have no doubt Sherpa women are capable of anything the men can do, and possibly more.
Good for her. I hope she is joined by more women soon.

The Laotians like the symbol too. I used to have a "flight bag" from this outfit. <img src="https://upload.wikimedia.org/wikipedia/commons/4/4a/Royal_Air_Lao_Douglas_C-54A-10-DC_Skymaster_Volpati.jpg"/>
