This was their greatest moment, supposedly had to be sneaked past the network censors. Seeger started with a medley of songs from past wars, accompanying himself on the banjo, and ended with this. I was in the teevee room of my college dorm, surrounded by future engineers, all of whom fell silent.
Looks like they played it live, which wasn't always a given in those days.
