Democrats also argued that Republicans were selectively enforcing the rule. They noted Sen. Ted Cruz (R-Texas) was not formally found to have violated the rules when he accused McConnell of being a "liar" from the Senate floor.
Well, isn't that interesting.
Also, this won't help the GOP fix the gender gap, that's for damn sure…
Hate to say it, but I gotta go with il Tortuga on this one. If the rules of the Senate don't allow one senator to impugn another from the floor, then Comrade Warrenovna can't read that letter.
The rules of the Senate suck and are totally undemocratic, but they're still the rules.
Doesn't exactly keep in the spirit of the rule. Senator Sessions is also Presidential Nominee Sessions and is himself the topic of debate. And she was reading a letter responding to last time he was Presidential Nominee Sessions. This effectively means that nominees that are still senators cannot be fully debated, which kinda changes "advise and consent" to "rubber stamp."
Why not turn it around and apply it to Republicans who bad-mouthed Warren while debating whether to punish Warren?
Um, I watched most of the CNN Sander's and that guy just a little less despicable than the sociopath in chief debate. I hope Bernie's Medicaid Gold health holds out because he is in a lot of ways the only one saying the things that need to be said.
I would rate this 99% true. Liz (through Mitch's eyes) got in "trouble" for referring to Jefferson directly. Merkley read 90% of the letter, omitting any direct reference to The Evil Elf.
I've been watching Sen. Booker for awhile now.. It's strangely stimulating and exhausting to agree with everything, and feel that nobody's watching. Yay!
ETA: Oh, maybe peeps are watchin'
Dern, I thought we were now in rule-breaking mode. Can't figure out why………..oh.

Rules are only legitimate when they're consistently enforced.
e.g. The other day I think Cruz intimated that Franken was lying . Al having none of that.
As ngc says, that's fine when they are enforced consistently. Otherwise, fuck Yertle with a chainsaw of votes.
Can't disagree with that.

I think there might something of a furor, an ado, if you will, over the censoring of Warren. http://greaterdiversity.com/coretta-scott-kings-h…
That was her statement. This is the letter to Thurmond https://twitter.com/LVBurke
Merkley now reading the King letter on the Senate floor
T or F ?

Liberal media!
What the fuck is this??
I dunno, maybe we should Ask Cokie. Suddenly, defunding NPR doesn't seem like such a bad idea.
"After the break, Cokie Roberts will tell us about the grand tradition of NPR sucking off Congress when Republicans hold the purse strings."
I gotta ask my retired buddy who was high up in NPR if he ever met the esteemed Ms Roberts and what his take was on her.
Rule 19 is one thing. Rule 34 is quite another
"There is NO… Rule 6!"
First rule of rule 6…

Cuisinart.
