  1. I think I have a better chance of winning a couple bucks with these Powerball tickets than getting a team I like in the Super Bowl.

      1. Just for the record, I think this is a really shitty thing to do. Imagine that, radio DJs being assholes!

    1. I've actually spent the last few hours trying to do my X-Files rewatch before the new eps start on 1/23. I'm only on Season 3. I think I'm going to need to start skipping more.

  2. OT: for those of you who like fucking with trolls as much as I do, there's a fan of Jeb! on today's Wonkette article about him.

        1. I just checked it out. Hilarious. This person might be living in a a sealed, underground environment.

"Jeb has in his corner the mightiest Super PAC the US has ever seen. Better still he has electability on his side."

          1. List of candidates currently running better against Clinton than Bush is

            Ben Carson
            Ted Cruz
            John Kasich
            Marco Rubio
            Donald Trump

This person's done a good job of keeping facts out!

          2. From his/her Disqus history in some other thread:

"I absolutely mean Jeb Bush. He is our brightest star in a generation."

          3. Hardly surprising, since this cycle the GOP, the greatest political party in the history of the country, has the most exemplary roster of candidates to choose from ever.

          4. He is also heir presumptive:

"On the contrary, Jeb is by far the best candidate we have and this was supposed to be a coronation for him. Things will calm down as voting draws closer and Jeb will reclaim the lead."

          5. I checked it out, either it's fairly well done Poe's law or I am really really embarrassed for that person

          6. Could be. The Disqus history is mostly right wing sites so I'm guessing he/she really believes they've picked the winner.

    1. What is this? Live people watching a game? Honestly that looks so fun, even though I know people mock it. Is there a link?

          1. This is live in northern Virginia so they're all in a hotel there doing this. It's actually for cancer prevention and treatment instead of research but it's still good! Sadly it's the last day and next marathon isn't until July or August. They'll upload the individual game videos from this to Youtube eventually though.

          2. Thanks. And yes, true. Sigh.

ETA: Looking at that audience during the break, it looks like it would be fun to watch a thing like this live, but if I walked in I'd look like someone's mom wandered in for their ride home.

          3. What's the deal with "Kill the Animals?" Also what are those long things that some of the people in the audience are applauding with? I've decided to call them Nerd Sticks.

          4. idk what the long things are but there's a place where you can save animals from the burning planet in Super Metroid. It's faster not to but they have a bid war (that raised like a quarter million dollars to charity this time) on whether to kill or save them. This time they were killed by not going to save them.

          5. OK thanks. That makes sense, it seemed like it must be something game-specific and that I missed the explanation while I was out in the kitchen.

  3. OT: Sean Penn interviewed El Chapo for Rolling Stone. El Chapo had editorial approval. It is as badly written as you'd expect. Also too, the AP is now reporting that Penn is how the authority found El Chapo. RIP Sean Penn.

      1. Yeah…I'm not overly optimistic about my banged-up team's chances going forward. But we beat the hated Bengals, so this is a fantastic season as far as I'm concerned!

  4. Now back to Final Fantasy IV! Can TOJSUX (Cecil) win at such a low level for so long? Is glitching more money than the powerball going to help? Are they going to be confused because they had to name one character with another's normal name?

  5. And on that note…I have to miss most of the early game tomorrow due to a training run, but I'll check in later (I'm assuming there will be a thread tomorrow as well.) Good night, everyone!

  6. No lottery winner. I bet if I pay for my next tickets with nickels, they'll KNOW I'm the one who should get that billion dollars.

  7. Why on earth didn't the Bengals down it three times and kick a field goal????? a four point lead with 20-30 seconds left probably looks good right about now

  8. Oh absolutely. I have no love for the Bengals after that, but as they say, "it's better to be lucky than good". And Pittsburgh are consistently so very very lucky – with due respect to Cally, nothing against her of course 😉

  9. I wouldn't be too proud of my team either way- there was way too much childish BS from both sides. Cincy was just stupid enough to let it cost them the game

  10. Absolutely, Stealers are well-schooled in playing right on the raggedy edge – and the Bungles fell for it. But that headhunt was… woah. Even worse on replay.
What really killed them was getting suckered into that dumb 2nd 15-yard penalty. I still don't really know what it was for. Violently touching one of the coaches?

  11. Not making excuses, but I will say that Cincinnati does draw out the worst in my team. That said, fuck Vontaze Burfict with a chainsaw of losses…

  12. I guess- or something said. Just think, three kneel downs and a short field goal and the Bengals would likely be going to Denver. Nice going, Marv

  13. Nah, Roth would have just chucked a hail mary with 12 seconds left, got a pass interference penalty on the one yard line, and then a series of unsportsmanlike penalties on Cincinnati would have dragged it to three inches away and pop, TD. :)

  14. ESPN's talking heads were going on about how that asshole could have been the hero of the game, but instead ended up costing the Bengals a potential win. HA!

    "Karma is a thing!"

    – Le'Veon Bell

  15. Andy Dalton didn't have it coming: Vontaze Burfict did. So I guess the answer would be "no, but I'll take it against the Satanists Bengals anyway…"

  16. Someone said that El Chapo was taken back to the same prison that he escaped from- hopefully a different cell. I'd say Penn will last about a week…
