Self righteous, smug fuck Radio says I only buy my books at brick and mortar stores. FWIW, YMMV. Also, too, I go to the library.
City Lights in San Fran is my fav.
Great bookstore. Went crazy and got Deutscher's 3-vol biography of Trotsky there. This was decades after I had stopped doing Russian and Central European history and was working with Perl and Powershell (and sometimes SAS). I cannot go into bookstores.
But … there is a good used bookstore at the Milwaukee airport.
I go to City Lights every time I visit SF. Love that place!
And when you go to Los Angeles, be sure to check out Book Soup and Skylight Books. They're not the same thing as City Lights, but they are independent bookstores that are thriving and will thrive despite what Amazon does TYVM…
