  1. And from the Joint Typhoon Warning Center in Hawaii:

"THERE IS SIGNIFICANT SPREAD IN MODEL GUIDANCE FOR THIS SYSTEM DUE TO THIS SYSTEM BEING A CLIMATOLOGICAL ANOMALY. AS SUCH, THERE IS LOW CONFIDENCE IN THE JTWC FORECAST TRACK"

    1. Those of us not well versed in extreme weather events in the southern hemisphere* can't figure out whether to be alarmed, or laugh at the JTWC.

      *That's me.

      1. Neither. It's an anomaly but it's not going to be a huge storm either. It's just that any storm in July there is similar to having one in the Caribbean in February.

        1. Ah. Yes. Re-reads Wikipedia article and sees that it's the tropical cyclone year that starts on July 1, while the season doesn't start till November. Slinks away.

    2. I hope they saved this as a macro. I have a feeling they're going to be saying "climatological anomaly" a lot in the coming years.
