There was a time (Before Gingrich) when elected officials got together and, you know, actually governed. Today though, half the legislators are nihilists elected by lunatics specifically to break things. No one can run a country like that. Not for long. Unless more people wake up, get up and vote nothing will change until all the oldz die off.
I have had two questions for a long time that I have never seen addressed:
1. Did we ever get so freaked out about Pakistan?
2. How has Iran not made a bomb yet? They certainly have the brains, time and oil $$$$.
1.) I don't think so and I'd remember that (of course that was before FOX). I'm freaked out about Pakistan because they're toe-to-toe at a common border with their sworn enemy India, who has nuclear weapons also and every few years they get into a shooting war that could easily spiral way out of control (and almost did in the early 90's apparently).
2.) That I don't know. Being under international economic sanctions since '79 and having Mossad killing their scientists every so often may have something to do with it.
I wouldn't be too freaked about Pakistan and India. Yes there's probably some religious extremist morons, but the relationship is more like a couple of siblings – occasionally bickering and disagreeing with each other, but very rarely will it come to blows…
The actual people of the indian subcontinent all get on pretty well, in my experience.
2) Making plutonium is actually a pretty tricky bit of large-scale engineering. The Manhattan Project could have been interrupted, except that, at the time, nobody knew to pay attention to it.
You're much too kind, C_R_E; but we won't really know until they hand out the Golden Poop at the Wonkaroo Very Small Blog Festival later this summer, will we?
Yeah, a Mr. Walrus and "The Carpenter" just RSVP'd – said they were going to show up and bring a lot of their friends. I'm not sure what's going on but I hope there's enough for everyone.
Here's how I've decided that The Deal is in fact a good one: it's pissed all the right people off.
I'm assuming there was a time where there wasn't a party that existed just to be terrible?

I am old, and I want my generation to die off, too. Well, at least the assholes among us.
WAY before Gingrich.
Welp, any party that I've ever put on has been pretty terrible.

Well, and the occasional riot killing hundreds.
The scariest thing is BF (Before Föx). Fuck you Roger Ailes.

BTW, CRE, you are doing amazing work in propagating the meme.
Why, thank you! I think AlterNewt's Goat Poster 'shop wins the Grand Prize, so far.

That's true. I'm looking forward to the Wonkville Sarah Hepola Meme Exhibition. I hope there's free drinks and vomit buckets.
And invertebrates.
Especially invertebrates.
Are you saying Ms. Hepola is spineless?
Oh, not at all. We're bringing our own.
..Y'know…
…for the dipping.

Seems legit.
