  1. Instead, Majority Leader Kevin McCarthy (Calif.) will call for a vote to overturn the Labor Department’s new rule requiring financial advisers to act in the best interest of their clients.

    seriously, fuck these assholes

        1. all those fuckers in "safe" districts think he's too liberal. Wouldn't it be great if the GOP's own gerrymandering helped them implode?

  2. I feel like we're playing a game of political chicken with the GOP right now. At stake? Just thousands of lives.

    1. fortunately, they're not very bright. since there is no filibuster, there's no rules requiring what Dems do. Ryan can pull his stunt but the Dems can keep right on going with their sit in

      1. It's not even a good stunt to try to use. Really? Breaking it with an attempt at a vote to allow people to get screwed over? It's like they're not even trying to stop the sit-in.

        1. could they have picked worse optics? sorry, we're too busy sucking up to wall street to deal with the epidemic of dead bodies

        2. I'm sure Wayne LaPierre would restore order there but quick.

Seriously, if this gun shit ever changes, it'll take generations, but you gotta start somewhere.

    2. Since this didn't work, I hope Ryan goes with the Plan B he's been whispering about: having them arrested as trespassers. Yes, please, do have John Lewis and Tammy Duckworth dragged off in cuffs, Mr. Future Ex-Speaker. Please.

      1. That'd be showing he can handle that chamber! You know what happened when Boehner did a couple of majority votes without the majority of his caucus!

          1. geez, I hope so. Hey, AZ is actually trending purple too! Drumpf is down in Tucson and Phoenix, it's only the rural shlubs and methheads keeping him close

        1. Ryan: I think that this situation absolutely requires a really futile and stupid gesture be done on somebody's part!
The rest of the GOP: We're just the guys to do it!

          1. Maybe they can recruit Cruz out of the Senate for this! He's experienced in running off cliffs!

        2. I can't wait for the optics of Ryan having John Lewis dragged off in cuffs- kiss that minority outreach goodbye pubbies!

  3. The worst part? The vote that Ryan won't let to the floor is on H.R. 5544 a bill from David Jolly R-FL. It got shunted to committee to die a lonely death. It's basically No Fly-No Buy with some fixes for the No Fly list to add due process protections for anyone denied a gun purchase IOW a common sense compromise that begins to address some of the problems with the terror watch list. it's certainly not going to fix everything, but it's the entire crux of the argument that the GOP used in the Senate to vote no. Give them a fix and these cowards won't even let it on the floor, even when it comes from one of their own

    1. And really its flaws are beside the point. All of these legislators know darn well that once it passes both houses it would be tweaked in committee to be a better bill.

  4. My thoughts and prayers go out to Paul Ryan and all the poor Republicans in their time of grief

(How about that? It doesn't really help, eh pubbies?)

      1. Was a tweet on the periscope feed . So I'm confused, where was the vote on the fiduciary bill? That's the speaker's chair behind the well, right? I coulda missed that while making hobo beans for supper, though.

        1. lol, it looks like our spam folder, minus the viagra pitch and the compliments about how much they enjoy reading our website

        2. Damn. Missed that.
House Democrats interrupt Republican House Speaker Paul Ryan by singing We Shall Overcome as the speaker attempts to hold a vote

  5. Madame Radio est en feu. She called Connolly's (D, VA) office and someone answered!!1! They said he is on the floor now.
    I love that woman.
Fuck the NRA: they support terrorists because they are terrorists. And fuck their lickspittles in Congress.

  6. Appearances mean something. I'll repeat this, [can't remember who said it years ago] for all their faults, the Dem's in Congress look more like America than the GOP.

    1. yes they do, but the GOP looks more like their base. Now if we could only get them to be the _size_ of their base, all would be well.

  7. House Republicans will attempt to wrest control of the House from Democrats staging a sit-in over gun control with a vote to override President Obama's fiduciary rule.

“It will be loud and probably be noisy,” Rep. Charlie Dent (R-Pa.), part of Speaker Paul Ryan’s group of advisers, told reporters after House Republicans held a special meeting about how they should respond to the day-long Democratic sit-in.
“You might want to get in the gallery and watch the show,” Dent added.

Goddamn right I'll watch you assholes openly admit you don't think financial advisors shouldn't have to work in their clients' best interests. My Reagan-supporting father voted for both Kerry and Obama after seeing what happens when someone who is ignorant of the basics of foreign affairs and who blindly supports deregulation of Wall Street takes the White House. Pass the popcorn, folks!

    /FFS

  8. So whaddaya gonna do about it , Speaker Ryan? Revoke Dem's press credentials?

    eta: seize all cell phones?

  9. Well, Imma leave glass to monitor the House later, and keep an eye on those storms that are gonna hit sps in a while.

  10. Heh. Also errrrrrrrrr, ummmmmmmm too.
…….declaring an early start to that holiday break, effective immediately. “We are not going to allow stunts like this to keep us from carrying on the peoples’ business,”
    –Guess Who.
