There are different COEs (coefficients of expansion) for different types of glass that dictate how one heats and mixes and cools glass. I use "soft" types of glass, with lower melting points and that are less tricky to work with than laboratory-style glassware under a flame, and easier to form/shape for artistic effects.
I could probably use the same tools/techniques that I have now for hard glass, but I've never attempted it.
I make my mirrors out of pyrex or plate (mostly plate), but I wish I had some decent glassblowing/working skills. I have some friends up in Oregon who slump glass to the approximate curve before making mirrors. I might have them slump some glass for me in the near future.
Linky ist nicht korrektheit? (Leads to poop-plastered surfin' dude)
Wow, amazingly beautiful and technically astounding. I do a tiny bit of glass work, this puts my meager skills to shame.
can you join glass tubes together? Laboratory glassware?
