  1. When I was 30, I had an illness for two years. It was a terrible thing, and involved a whole, whole lot of debilitating pain. I also was working full time and going to school nine units a semester, not getting much sleep and trying to get through the ordeal of each day. I also had decided to deal with it without pain meds and instead just power through. I had some big-ass horse pills just in case, but I didn’t take them.

The one respite I had was that every morning, for literally seconds, I would wake up without pain. The way I thought of it was that for those few seconds, my mind had woken up but my body lagged behind. I savored those pain-free seconds, thinking about whatever, like I had before the illness. Then I’d remember: Oh, those old days are not my reality anymore – and the pain will start in a sec. And sure enough, it would roll over me like a fog, then sock in. My mindset would change to coping with the illness and I’d think: Shit. And then I’d pull myself out of bed, which took a lot of effort, and somehow get through the day.

Yesterday morning and today felt that way. A few seconds of normal and then suddenly remembering the terrible reality.

Fuck all the people who voted for Trump.

Let’s get rid of the electoral college.

    1. Let's get rid of the electoral college

or hope they serve the purpose they were created for and a bunch of them pull the lever for Hillz

    1. Sorry you had/have to live with that. I've been disabled for almost 10 years now, with chronic pain a partial contributor. I also eschew the use of pain meds, unless it's unavoidable.

Allergic to fish, so I no longer fish, either bait or fly. They live to fight another day. As must we all.
Meanwhile, I wish I was [Comfortably Numb.]

      1. Trump ran for president because he's acting out some massive self-loathing that only a person with the resources and ego the size of his can. Behind his choice there was the thought that, "heh! I'll show all the bastards now! They'll all have to acknowledge that I'm the greatest!"

Instead, what he's going to find is that only really stupid people think he's awesome, and the rest of the entire world, for generations, will mock him, equate him with terrible personal pain, rally against him, create grotesque fictional characters that hilariously poke fun of him, will fight him at every turn, and that he will go down in history as exactly the image of himself that he is trying to run away from, only on a massive scale and exposed to everyone, for all time.

Even W. didn't vote for him. And I can't imagine what state dinners and artistic events at the White House will be like – so many people will turn down the invitations. So many good state department and other cabinet department people who are at the end of their storied careers serving the public will conveniently decide to retire rather than interact with him.

  2. I'm not ouking at all. I'm getting back to it. Going to have a heart to heart with Kid Glass this afternoon, to help him cope.

¡Que he ganado, señor! ¡Tierra verde será mia, aun en muerte!

    1. I know enough folks in various circles who are getting some distance from the fray in order to process.
Which probably already occurred to you – – I'm just saying, "time out" is what lots o peeps need right now~
