there's plenty of life that gets by without using oxygen to live. To some life, oxygen is toxic, just not the type of life that eats wooden ships. Indeed, in the early part of the earth's history, there was very little free oxygen around, until things started photosynthesis, then so much free oxygen was created that the iron ions in the seas precipitated out as rock…and a few billion years later we mined those rocks for the metals that this surplus of oxygen created.

Luminescence is a lie!
Apparently these images are assembled from a sequence of georeferenced smaller ones in order to generate a 3D effect.
