  1. Noticed a $1900 charge w/Neiman Marcus on my card Aug 1, called and found out it was $1900 raincoat. (What thief buys an expensive, un-pawnable raincoat?) Checked w/la Signora and no, she had not snitched my card to buy a raincoat, particularly because it hasn't rained here since January. Called the bank and they backed it off, and found several other high-$ charges to NM on the card.

This explains a lot. The article says credit card fraud isn't identity theft and I suppose that's true, but it sure feels like theft when there are thousands of dollars of charges on your bill for things you didn't buy.

My identity was also compromised in the Office of Personnel Management fuckup where everybody who ever had or applied for a security clearance w/the gummint was compromised. They provided "free" credit monitoring as well but nothing has ever shown up. That's probably because it was the Chinese or Russkies who did that hack, and they don't want money.

  2. If you’ve been paying attention in recent years, you might have noticed that just about everyone is losing your personal data.

Two different entities in the past two years. I don't know if that is good or bad compared to other peoples' experiences.
