I am quite worried about Tampa at this point, actually. The track's shifted a good bit west and they're probably not as prepared as Miami. If the storm goes near the center of the track it'll keep the storm surge down, at least, but we'll have to see.
Okay this is serious: Irma back to category 5. Winds back to 160 mph. If it only hits the islands on the north end of Cuba it can probably keep its strength.
New advisory assumes more land interaction with Cuba. Should slightly "weaken" to a strong category 4, but affect the keys at that extremely strong intensity.
I have friends on both coasts that have evacuated, one in Fort Myers is riding it out. The ones on Sanibel left, reluctantly, but with only one way off the island, better safe than sorry. The ones on the Atlantic coast are crediting prayer for the weakened status there. I guess peeps on the Gulf coast didn't pray enough.
OT but you might like to know the Dragons just beat the best team in the entire Minor Leagues in the first round of the playoffs, 2 games to 1. Every win was by the road team. Dragons gave up 2 runs with 2 outs and nobody on in the 9th twice in the series. 3-2 loss, 2-1 win, 4-3 win in 11 innings.
You have a point there. It's an odd feeling since I'd normally be really mad about just randomly taking homeless people into custody but right now this is nowhere near a normal scenario.
It's trying to do kinetic energy but it doesn't take the storm's size into account. I don't think there's a widely-used index that does that, though, so it's the best we have.
“Here’s the issue,” Scott Pruitt told CNN. “To have any kind of focus on the cause and effect of the storm; versus helping people, or actually facing the effect of the storm, is misplaced.”
“[T]o discuss the cause and effect of these storms, there’s the… place (and time) to do that, it’s not now,” he said.

My ex lives in Naples, and is pretty scared.
[The latest update from WaPo is not good]. Thoughts & prayers, for whatever they're worth…

I have mixed emotions about this right now
Saw it on network news last night. I can't express the feeling of being handcuffed when you've done nothing wrong. Impotent rage doesn't even begin…
Buckle up, kids!

All that will be left of the Keys will be sand spits. Interesting to see how the causeway will survive.

Also, too, why does FL have a condom on?
Getting wet and wild?
Miami Vise?
Maybe it's Irma wearing the condom?
For fans of terajoules.
I guess that's a lot.

What if the west coast lesbians were praying? God would be conflicted.

Also, GITMO is on S.E corner of Cuba. So Irma already passed it.

Freud tells us that there are no coincidences.
Or maybe that was accidents.
I just un-stickied this post mostly since it's not supposed to be a category 5 anymore (but still incredibly dangerous)
I'll probably make a new one and sticky that after the 5pm advisory though.
She's gonna ride it out. Too hard to get her spouse and wheelchair into a car and an airplane.

I hope it's not as bad as it looks like it'll be around there.
But they did have Aaron Fossas there to blow two saves and still won so there's that.

Yes. Yes he is.
Can we finally talk about guns now?
They're draining the swamp.
I fear that next week in FLA is not gonna be a good time to talk about guns either.

Obvs. too soon.
