    1. Don't start feeling too safe in SoCal, either. There's a huge dairy in Amargosa Valley NV, very near to and downstream from Yucca Mountain. More cows than people, by a mile. All the raw milk leaves the milking parlor and is hauled by tank trucks to a dairy co-op in Riverside for processing. From there, who knows?

When I say the dairy is downstream from Yucca Mountain, I mean this quite literally. The aquifer under Yucca is the same one under the dairy, and is the only source of water. During Yucca's heyday, they had a cow with a lexan panel on her side so they could check her organs visually for signs of nuclear poisoning.

  1. I used to be a [WIPP] certified first responder. My jerb, in case of accident, would have been to close the highway and deny entry to anyone not higher on the WIPP pecking order than myself. There were constant transfers of trans-uranic waste between Yucca Mountain and Carlsbad, with occasional weapons grade transfers under military protection. Scary shit, that. Those spooks got no sense of humor.
