  1. To clarify, the FB post was in March. The murders took place June 24.

It becomes more and more obvious that the people who continually make such grand, overblown observations such as this are really trying to obscure the reality that they're the reason effective gun safety laws are needed.

    1. ♪♫And it's one, two, three rounds and you're dead…♪♫

"[A]nyone who brings in a gun will get a wristband and won’t be allowed to purchase alcohol…" and there is no way anyone would buy a beer and give it to gun-toting fan. So don't worry about it!

  2. Saw Larry Wilkerson (retired Army colonel, Colin Powell's chief of staff) on Bill Maher not long ago. Some rwnj woman was arguing about guns for self defense. Wilkerson said something like, "I'm 71 years old and no one has ever broken into my house while I was home." He also said he's got 14 weapons, many of which he inherited, and likes to hunt. He keeps them under lock and key, as would any sane person.

The idea of gunz as home defense tools is utter bullshit unless you (1) are willing to keep a loaded pistol in the nightstand with the safety off, (2) have trained yourself to use it accurately in high-stress, low-light situations, and (3) are brave or remorseless enough to blow away a burglar/intruder/sleepwalking child in cold blood.

    1. Right, and don't forget, you have perfect judgement and razor sharp reflexes when you're woken in the middle of the night! What could possibly go wrong?

  3. NPR's "On The Media" this week has an interview with "Slate" editor Rachel Larrimore about her [article] decrying the ignorance of most reporters on the subject of gunz, and it may be true. But the angry and aggrieved tone of the ammosexuals on this topic very much reminds you of a priest who's offended when someone confuses venial and mortal sins or mistakenly says Catholics believe the Virgin Mary is a deity. Honestly, does confusing assault "weapons" with assault "rifles" have anything to do with accurately reporting that 49 people were killed all at once by one guy with two gunz?

  4. We have an au pair visiting from France. Friday night the farmer and his wife, also from France, took her to a rodeo nearby. They were appalled that after the singing of the national anthem and the ritual entry of American and Texas flags by horsemen a long prayer was said thanking Jesus for saving us all. And then there was a raffle for several AR-15 rifles.

    1. In my small community, a young native woman was shot and killed in 2014. As a fundraiser to cover final expenses, they raffled off a god damned AR-15. I don't know how much more of this idiocy I can take.
