      1. My theory is he voted this way because a) he knew it wouldn't actually change the outcome so it was safe to do so and b) he figures his constituents will forget in four years when his term is up and c) by the time his term does come up, Trump will be out of office and in retrospect Rmoney will look like a hero to his constituents. Unless I'm missing something here and Rmoney gained a conscience instead of a hard drive.

I should add that I am still at work and haven't looked at my computer all day so I don't know any details of what happened, only what I have seen on Twitter and here in the last ten minutes. Although I do know that Kirk Douglas passed away. THAT came up on my phone but nothing about the impeachment trial did.

          1. I think I had better listen to his speech.
Usually at work I can jump onto the Internet fairly often and keep abreast of what's going on. Right now it feels like I am way behind on the real world. For the foreseeable future I'm spending much of my days in meetings and talking to humans and making phone calls to try to get some projects done that are not getting done because people have a tendency to not do their part of a process until someone pushes them and magically people always have watertight excuses. And of course when I am the one who pushes them I get called a bitch behind my back, what they don't realize is that their hate only makes me more powerful.
And then I still have to get my computer stuff done so I end up staying late to do that.

          2. At first, I wasn't ready for it financially and psychologically. Then I doubled my income with the addition of Social Security and wasn't so despondent anymore. Then I got old as fuck and on death's door for a minute, and suddenly realized I had wasted my damned retirement.

    1. Maybe I'm wrong about Rmoney and this WAS a brave thing to do. I just assume it is calculated. I literally am crazy with work these past several days and feel like I do not get online enough right now to get an adequate sense of these things. That said, I will still go with calculated.

  1. A contractor came by today for my first estimate on the damages to my house. I asked him about adding electrical outlets in my kitchen and he said my wiring is so old (1961) that well long story short I will have to get the house re-wired and also get a new fuse box. I knew that would be the case, and because that isn't part of the flood damage it would be on me, but to hear it is just painful. $$$$$$ And I still haven't gotten my tooth fixed. sigh.

      1. Thank you! I just wrote a long rant about what is happening at work and then I deleted it. You guys wouldn't have wanted to try to wade through it but it was great stress relief to write it. My god, I work with some real idiots.

    1. Half of my house is 100 years old, the other half is around 60 years old. The oldest half isn't even grounded, and back then nobody had TVs or any of the other things we take for granted now. Outlets are few and far between. However, when I got the solar installed 2 weeks ago, I got a new breaker box that doubled my available amperage. Now I can get some new outlets, if I can afford to.

      Good luck with your tooth.

      1. I've known about the tooth for a year. I just haven't been able to justify the $5K to get it fixed since I don't have a whole lot of savings and I worry about emergencies. Our dental insurance doesn't cover implants.
Frankly I just need to suck it up and get it done.

          1. Some do. Those plans are out there. Also, my insurance will cover the extract part. So at least there's that.

    1. I am finding myself saying to myself lately that by god, I almost like Jennifer Rubin. Then I slap myself back to reality.

          1. Max Boot and Rick Wilson, as well as Nicolle Wallace, are on that list also. George Conway is one part of a comedy/grifter team in the mold of Carville/Matalin and not worth getting cranked up at.

Jonah Goldberg is nd will always be a worthless legacy hire putz, even with his shiny commenters gig at NPR.

    1. I read that article where Romney had spoken to a reporter before the vote on condition of not posting until after the vote, and it said how Rmoney was quoting scripture, etc. Well OK great that he did this but if he is so upright and has such a conscience, how come he only voted to convict on one of the two counts? I am glad he did it, but still, he's just doing strategy, not doing genuine conscience. Or maybe that is the limit of his conscience.

      1. I should add that I still haven't listened to his speech so maybe I should give him the benefit of the doubt. I just didn't get to it last night and who knows when I will, but everyone is talking about that speech so maybe he does have a conscience after all.

    1. It does say, "Its lack of toxicity has allowed it to be present in mans daily life since antiquity times." so probably not puffer fish.

Also a fish roof sounds cool but I don't think it would last long especially in the Arizona heat.

  2. I would just like to say that I work with exhausting idiots. Thank you.

I am not kidding, btw. I am so damn frustrated. Lazy idiots.

    1. Was hearing the other day of a guy who's the actually working head-chef at a fancy restaurant [ not the owner/actual head chef ] who is burning out covering for people he won't fire because he said ' it would look bad '.
That's how he was quoted to me , anyway.

      1. I just deleted a long rant but basically my boss is facing the same situation. He wants to fire a lot of dead weight but he just fired a whole lot of other dead weight, worse dead weight, and so there is a point where appearances start to play in. The problem of course is that he and I now have to constantly fix problems the dead weight people cause. But my boss is right – it would be bad optics to fire them now, plus, the longer they are here the more can go on the list when my boss finally lets them go. There will be a day when it is undeniable that they are bad hires.

  3. Dammit my fucking TV is not working. It's the HDMI switcher thingy. It is blinking back and forth like a railroad crossing. Fuck. Why is everything breaking in this house.

On the upside it is a tiny TV and the new big ones are super cheap.

It looks like something fell on it since shelf clutter is on the floor, which means the cat probably tried to get up there.

    Does anyone want a cat?

          1. The only thing you need to know is to keep them off of shelves. Also they might be electric devices because if you put one in water you will hurt yourself.
